Filing an insurance claim can often feel like a daunting task, especially during stressful times. However, understanding the process can significantly increase your chances of a successful settlement.

1. Immediate Intimation

The first and most crucial step is to inform your insurance provider immediately after the incident. Most insurers have a 24-48 hour window for intimation. Delaying this can be grounds for rejection.

2. Documentation is Key

Gather all necessary documents. For health insurance, this includes discharge summaries, bills, and prescriptions. For motor insurance, you'll need the FIR (if applicable), driving license, and RC copy.

3. The Survey Process

The insurer will appoint a surveyor to assess the loss. Be honest and transparent during this process. Any discrepancy between your claim form and the surveyor's findings can lead to complications.

"Transparency is the best policy when it comes to insurance claims. Never hide facts from your insurer."

4. Settlement or Rejection

Based on the surveyor's report, the insurer will either approve or reject the claim. If approved, the amount is transferred to your account. If rejected, they must provide a valid reason in writing.
